Technical and Vocational Education and Training

Strengthening TVET: Skills, Readiness, and Pathways to Employment

In a competitive and rapidly evolving job market, practical skills and hands-on experience are essential for career success. Through its programmes, Sharek Youth Forum strengthens Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by equipping young people with industry-relevant skills, workplace readiness, and clear pathways to employment.

Our TVET interventions respond to a key reality in Palestine: while unemployment remains high, many employers still report difficulties in finding candidates with the right technical competencies and work-ready behaviors. Sharek works to narrow this gap by aligning training with market needs and connecting youth to real opportunities.

Why TVET Matters

TVET plays a vital role in improving employability, supporting livelihoods, and building a resilient local economy. Sharek addresses the gap between education outcomes and labor market demand through an integrated approach that focuses on both skills and access.

What Sharek Does

  • Strengthening Training Centers
Partnering with 16 Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) to deliver specialized courses in high-demand fields such as IT, marketing, graphic design, telecommunications, and hospitality.
  • Linking Youth to Employers
Creating direct connections between trainees and businesses seeking skilled workers—supporting career exposure, recruitment pathways, and sector engagement.
  • Integrating Technical and Life Skills
Combining vocational training with soft skills and employability competencies, including communication, teamwork, workplace ethics, and career guidance—so graduates are prepared to perform and grow in real work environments.

Hands-On Learning and Real-World Experience

Through Sharek, TVET students access practical training, internships, and job-shadowing opportunities with businesses and local industry actors. This approach ensures learning extends beyond the classroom and supports a smoother transition from training to employment.

Partnership-Driven Implementation

Sharek delivers TVET programming in coordination with the Ministry of Labor. This partnership helps ensure training content remains demand-driven, work-based learning placements are accessible, and young people are supported through clearer pathways toward employment and decent work.
