Adolescent Health and wellbeing

Adolescence is a highly sensitive stage of life. Even in stable conditions, adolescents experience rapid physical, hormonal, and emotional changes that can strongly affect their wellbeing. In times of war and displacement, these changes unfold under extreme stress—making adolescents more vulnerable to anxiety, fear, and emotional overload, and increasing the need for specialized, age-appropriate support.

At Sharek Youth Forum, we respond by designing interventions that recognize the specific needs of adolescents in crisis settings—helping them cope, stay connected, and regain a sense of safety and routine.

What We Deliver

Through a package of integrated interventions, Sharek supports adolescents and children through:

  • Group psychosocial support sessions focused on emotional resilience, coping skills, and peer support
  • Awareness sessions on holistic health, including puberty, self-care, and healthy daily practices in a crisis context
  • Psychological release activities through play and recreation, providing safe outlets for stress and emotional pressure
  • Adapted delivery of core programmes such as Majd Journey and Girl Zone, redesigned to fit emergency conditions and maintain continuity of support
  • Targeted inclusion measures with a focus on adolescents who are most at risk, including adolescents with disabilities, amputees, and orphans, recognizing that these groups often increase and face heightened vulnerabilities during war

To strengthen reach and sustainability, these interventions are delivered in collaboration with partners within the Sharek Partners Allaiance , ensuring community-based access and locally grounded support.

Annual Reach and Essential Support

Through these interventions, Sharek reaches more than 7,000 adolescents (girls and boys) every year, providing consistent psychosocial and wellbeing support across crisis-affected settings.

In addition, the distribution of hygiene and dignity kits and other relief parcels remains an essential part of the response—supporting personal wellbeing and helping adolescents and families maintain dignity and a sense of normalcy amid crisis conditions.
