Al-Aqsa University Hosts a Youth Experience that Inspires Hope
In one of the most inspiring examples of determination to continue learning under the most difficult circumstances, Al-Aqsa University in Gaza hosted a Model United Nations (MUN) program, creating a space for law students to learn, engage in dialogue, and express themselves at a time when many university classrooms have been disrupted and in-person education remains severely limited.
Over three days, 30 law students from the University of Palestine, Al-Aqsa University, and Al-Azhar University took part in an intensive Model United Nations training experience, developing their skills in dialogue, public speaking, negotiation, analysis, and representing the positions of different countries.
The experience culminated in a full simulation of a UN session addressing the genocide in Gaza and the positions of different countries, where students delivered statements, debated different perspectives, represented countries, and put the knowledge and skills they had gained throughout the program into practice.
This experience was more than just a training program. It carried a powerful message from Gaza:
When university classrooms are disrupted, young people’s ability to learn and express themselves does not stop. When spaces become limited, young people create their own spaces for knowledge, dialogue, and hope.
Our sincere appreciation goes to Al-Aqsa University for hosting this youth experience, supporting students, and providing them with opportunities to continue learning under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. We also celebrate every student who chose to keep learning and developing their abilities despite the harsh reality around them.
The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, leaving behind an inspiring example of how Gaza’s youth can transform challenges into opportunities for learning, participation, and hope.
