Press Release – For Immediate Publication
Sharek Youth Forum strongly condemns the serious criminal attack carried out by groups of settlers early this morning against The Youth Village, which included deliberate destruction of property and facilities, as well as heavy and direct gunfire around the village, in a dangerous escalation aimed at spreading fear and imposing a new coercive reality in the area.
The forum affirms that there were no volunteers, staff, or anyone present in the village at the time of the attack, which clearly proves that this assault was not a reaction or incidental confrontation, but a deliberate and intentional act of aggression targeting the place itself as a purely civilian and youth facility.
The forum emphasizes that this attack is not an isolated incident, but part of a systematic policy and continuous approach to destroying Palestinian civilian properties, with a persistent focus on targeting Palestinian youth facilities, in a clear attempt to undermine safe spaces, strike at community initiatives, and empty the land of any organized Palestinian presence.
In this context, the forum raises a legitimate question:
Why is The Youth Village continuously targeted? And why the insistence on attacking civil youth facilities that pose no threat other than representing life, organization, and building the future?
This targeting constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the principle of protecting civilian property, and again reveals a policy of impunity, amid worrying international silence and failure to hold perpetrators accountable or stop their attacks.
Sharek Youth Forum holds the occupying authorities fully and directly responsible for this attack and for any subsequent attacks against The Youth Village or other civilian facilities, calling on the international community, UN institutions, and diplomatic missions to act urgently to protect Palestinian civilian properties and halt this repeated aggressive approach.
The forum affirms that these attacks will not undermine the will of Palestinian youth, and that The Youth Village will remain a free national space and a voice of life against policies of oppression and targeting.
