Model United Nations (MUN): A Youth Platform to Amplify Voices
In partnership with UNFPA, Sharek Youth Forum implemented a series of Model United Nations programs across Palestinian universities, including An-Najah National University, Palestine University in Gaza, Palestine Ahliya University, Al-Israa University, Al-Quds Open University, Birzeit University, Modern University College, Al-Quds University, the University of Independence, Hebron University, and Palestine Polytechnic University.
These models created unique learning and training spaces that strengthened youth skills in research, dialogue, negotiation, and policy formulation—aligned with international standards and simulating the workings of the UN and its institutions. The program provided youth with practical opportunities to engage with national and global issues, thereby enhancing their leadership and diplomatic skills.
Among the notable models was “Defenders,” which embodied youth as defenders of their rights and causes, amplifying their voices in fair demands at both local and international levels. It provided a forum for dialogue among students on their priorities and how to transform their vision into actionable positions. Through this, MUN in Palestine helped build a generation of youth equipped with advocacy and participation tools, enabling them to express their causes innovatively and scientifically, and solidifying the Palestinian youth’s place as essential partners in shaping a fairer future.
