“Sports is Life” Youth Initiative in Beit Liqya – Southwest of Ramallah

In the heart of Beit Liqya village, southwest of Ramallah—where the fertile plains of Ramleh meet the mountains of Jerusalem, and where agricultural hills blend seamlessly with the open sky—a remarkable youth initiative came to life. Titled “Sports is Life”, the project was launched through a partnership between the Sharek Youth Forum and the Beit Liqya Union Club, bringing together young people around the unifying power of sports.
Despite the many challenges faced by the village and its surrounding communities, the participants discovered that sports not only provided a form of recreation but also served as a bridge that connects villages and unites their energy. Football matches were held between teams from Safa, Beit ‘Ur al-Tahta, Beit ‘Anan, Kharbatha al-Misbah, and Beit Liqya. These games were not just about competition; they honed the players’ skills, built confidence, and fostered communication and friendships across villages.
The culmination of the initiative was a festive celebration, where trophies were awarded to the winning teams, honoring their efforts and achievements. But the true victory lay beyond the medals and applause—it was in the smiles, the teamwork, and the bonds strengthened through shared activity.
This initiative represented far more than a series of sports matches. It was a powerful message of solidarity, cooperation, and resilience from the youth of a village rich in history, agriculture, and promise for the future. By embracing the values of brotherhood, energy, and collective action, the young people of Beit Liqya reminded their communities that a better life can be built together—through unity, vitality, and a shared spirit.
