Sharek Youth Forum Calls for the Formation of Local Emergency Committees and Strengthening Community Solidarity Amid Crisis and Widespread Lockdowns
Ramallah – Saturday, June 14, 2025
In light of the ongoing emergency conditions in Palestinian villages, camps, towns, and cities, and the unprecedented escalation in lockdowns and isolation imposed on Palestinian areas, Sharek Youth Forum calls for the formation of local youth emergency committees across all communities. The aim is to coordinate field efforts and support the groups most affected by the current crisis.
The Forum emphasizes the importance of promoting community solidarity and mutual aid among the Palestinian people, especially amidst resource shortages, disrupted supply chains, and the breakdown of essential services in many areas. This situation calls for organized grassroots responses built on trust and cooperation.
At Sharek Youth Forum, and stemming from our national and social responsibility, we urge all Palestinian youth, civil society organizations, popular committees, local councils, youth councils, youth groups, and influencers to engage in building community support networks based on the principle of “by the people, for the people,” operating in the spirit of collective volunteer work, free from political or factional alignments.
We also call for:
* Monitoring and documenting the basic needs of each community.
* Organizing on-the-ground relief initiatives according to priorities.
* Protecting vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and women.
* Coordinating with health authorities and educational institutions to ensure minimal access to services.
* Activating community media to amplify people’s voices and expose violations.
At this pivotal moment, we believe that the strength of our society lies in its unity and solidarity, and that the spirit of Palestinian youth will continue to serve as a vital platform for collective resistance against all forms of oppression, starvation, and isolation — and to bolster the steadfastness of people on their land.
