Gaza Collapses Before the World’s Eyes: The Catastrophe Deepens, Aid Fails to Reach
Ramallah – Sunday, June 2, 2025
The Sharek Youth Forum warns of the complete and rapid collapse of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip amid escalating airstrikes and the total absence of humanitarian protection. What we are witnessing today is the gradual corruption of all aspects of life and the complete breakdown of the international relief system, which is no longer able to access or respond — signaling an exceptional catastrophe in history.
International reports released today indicate that displacement areas can no longer accommodate more internally displaced people amid the total collapse of basic infrastructure — water, food, and health facilities. Over 2.3 million people are being deprived of their most basic rights, with 85% of Gaza’s population living in forced displacement. Many have been displaced repeatedly from one area to another, with no prospect of safety or stability.
Sharek confirms that relief aid distribution mechanisms have practically collapsed, as neither safe environments nor logistical capacities are available. The overcrowding is suffocating, and the living conditions are inhumane. In camps and displacement zones, hundreds of people are forced to share a single toilet. At the same time, each individual receives only 1.5 to 2 liters of non-potable water per day — an amount insufficient to sustain life amid the absence of food, medical care, and a healthy environment.
The Forum emphasizes that all humanitarian efforts will remain fragile and incomplete as long as the war continues. The international community cannot speak of “relief” while bombardment, starvation, and forced displacement persist. After more than 600 days of killing and siege, the price civilians in Gaza — children, women, and the elderly — are paying is unbearable and unprecedented in modern times. It is, indeed, a stain on the conscience of humanity.
The world’s silence is complicity in this crime, and Rafah is moments away from total catastrophe.
