"The Jordan Valley Signboards... An Identity That Cannot Be Erased."
In a step rich with symbolic and national significance, youth from the Jordan Valley, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, completed a unique initiative: installing identification signboards for Palestinian villages in the Jordan Valley. This act combines volunteerism with a deep commitment to identity.
Led by volunteers from various towns and villages, the initiative aimed to engrave the names of our villages onto the land and into memory in defiance of the erasure and marginalization facing this vital region of Palestine. Most signboards have already been installed, with only a few remaining to be completed in the next phase.
This achievement was not merely a logistical task but a form of resistance—affirming that the people of the Jordan Valley have names, history, and a rightful claim to presence and recognition. The Jordan Valley has long been targeted by displacement and erasure policies, but initiatives like this restore value to the place and strengthen the people's connection to it.
One volunteer said, "As we placed the signboard, we felt we were bringing the name, the village, and the people back to life. It's more than just a sign—a declaration of our presence and a message that we are here to stay."
The Sharek Youth Forum and the supporting partners expressed their pride in this initiative, which they consider a model of cooperation between youth and official institutions and a pillar for strengthening the spirit of belonging.
