Handicrafts for Girls" Initiative in Tulkarm and Qalqilya
As part of the "Youth Support in Crises" project, implemented by Sharek Youth Forum in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Y-PEER Network, the "Handicrafts for Girls" initiative was launched. This initiative targeted unemployed young women and female university students, aiming to equip them with handicraft skills to create accessories using ceramic materials and wood engraving techniques.
The initiative engaged 36 women and girls from the governorates of Tulkarm and Qalqilya. The training also included sessions on marketing techniques—both in the local Palestinian market and through social media platforms—which helped participants effectively promote and sell their products.
Rana Al-Zayyat, one of the participants, shared her experience:
"Like many girls, I am unemployed, and my area has minimal job opportunities. I joined the course and learned many skills I had long been searching for. Now, I'm marketing my products through social media and have started generating income from the sales—especially through individual customer orders. This experience encouraged me to expand my activity and plan for future projects I intend to launch."
