Mehani Project for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education in Palestine

Mehani project main objectives are to contribute to poverty reduction particularly among youth in Palestine and to increase income opportunities of youth through improving vocational and technical education.

Through the implementation of “Mehani”, it entails a series of workshops which are tailor-made to the needs of the schools as well as an extensive follow-up support for the workshop participants to implement their newly acquired skills.

Mehani aims to support vocational and technical education secondary schools in order to:

Vocational and technical schools improve their reform capacity

  • Vocational and technical schools improve their management system.
  • Vocational and technical schools cooperate with state institutions, the private sector and NGOs to improve the job opportunities of the graduates.
  • A network of vocational and technical schools ensures constant exchange and mutual learning.
  • A best practice brochure enables other vocational training institutions to improve their services.

Vocational and technical schools create an empowering learning environment

  • Teachers/trainers use modern standard teaching techniques.
  • Teachers/trainers and counsellors enable students with learning difficulties to successfully complete their education.
  • The schools adopted an approach to solve conflicts through mediation.

Graduates access job opportunities

  • Students learn how to access job opportunities.
  • Selected graduated started their own enterprises and workshops.

This project is implemented in partnership with the German Adult Association 'dvv international’, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the European Union.
