Sharek Youth Forum and ILO launch a program for Enhancing Labour Market prospects for young girls and women
Ramallah 13 July 2011 – Sharek Youth Forum and the International Labor Organization (ILO) launched a program for enhancing labour market prospects for young girls and women. This program aims at training 60 young females on life skills including leadership, communications and advanced skills in preparing curriculum vitae (CV) and how to be prepared for an interview in addition to the international Computer Driving License Program.
The Executive director of Sharek Forum Bader Zamareh pointed out that the project, which will be implemented in different districts in North and South West Bank, is going to be announced in a few days. Zamareh emphasized on a number of criteria that the young females willing to join the project shall have. Most important of these criteria is willingness to involve in voluntary work, ability to travel and conduct training in a number of locations in addition to their preparedness to participate in this 12 - day program and to take the examinations and the consequent follow ups.
For his part, the ILO representative in Palestine Mounir Qleibo stressed the importance of such a program, which comes under the framework for developing and enhancing the life skills of the target group (young females) within ILO activities under the MDG-F programme on "Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in the occupied Palestinian territory" and enable women to involve in the Palestinian labor market on basis, philosophy and concept of decent and sustainable work.
It is worth noting that this program involves six UN Agencies and is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Labor. This program, which has been implemented for almost two years, aims at achieving gender equality and is funded by the Spanish Government under the Millennium Development Goals.
Qleibo highly appreciated the efforts exerted by Sharek Youth Forum and gave a special mention to the remarkable distinction the Forum made during the announcement of the Palestinian Youth Employment Plan, which forms a framework for many youth issues and employment.
Qleibo also valued the programs, projects and events targeted by Sharek Youth Forum in service of the youth sector in Palestine, in harmony with the ILO values and principles to achieve social justice within the framework and concept of decent work.
