Sharek Youth Forum launched, in partnership with Radio Ajyal and with
funding from the Swiss Agency for Development, an Information Technology
program for rural girls, relying on the evolutionary philosophy of the
Palestinian society and its members from young men and women, for the
sake of eliminating computer illiteracy spreading densely in the
Palestinian society. This program will help familiarize the young ladies
with computers and technology on behalf of developing their abilities
and thus facilitating access to information and presenting an
opportunity to benefit from computer programs and Internet software in
all aspects of life.
The Forum worked towards setting up a chain of computer centers in
various areas of the occupied Palestinian territory aiming for the
integration of the Palestinian youth component and women living with the
spirit of the times, enriching the knowledge of the Palestinian
community, developing the informational capacity of the youth,
supporting the creations of the youth, and maintaining the development
of individual skills for the sake of sustaining the Palestinian society
itself through partnership with municipalities and local councils as one
of the groups benefiting from this program.
For his part, Adel Saba'neh, the project coordinator, pointed that the
work will focus on the empowerment of girls participating (18
altogether) on the use of computers in various aspects of their lives.
Masoon Manasra, a representative at Radio Ajyal who has participated in
pursuing the project and has made announcements through her radio show
to the groups of interest, stated “the ladies and mothers are dependent
on the program to develop their abilities and knowledge through this
national project that we hope will reach all of the centers and
organizations, I would like this project to be continuous between us and
Sharek to be able to provide services and community contributions to all
segments of our society”.
Not forgetting to
mention that Sharek is working on the recruitment for information
technology and its different application through it’s “Shababeek”
program which is implemented in partnership with the Welfare Association
which is a means of teaching the curriculum and co curriculum through
exposing children to a range of experiences, skills and practical
experiences of educational and recreational where the output is
knowledge, education and life skills that can contribute to the
formation and development of a better way of life. The objective of the
project was achieved through the Futurekids program which is
aimed at enabling children to use advanced technology in their daily
lives to expand the horizons of knowledge and ability and promote
excellence and technology in the development of the educational process
in schools. Clubhouse project aimed at providing an innovative
and safe learning after school and allows the establishment of projects
for young people in communities which do not have adequate services to
work with teachers to explore ideas, develop their skills and build
confidence in themselves through the use of technology in a project that
contributes to the development of the capabilities and skills of
Palestinian children in the field of information technology and the use
of the computer as well as applying these skills in their day to day
