Shababeek
project: The IT Community
Centers for Children and Youth
Project Overview
The Community Information Technology Centers for Children and Youth or
“Shababeek”, seek to assist community development by advancing
children's skills and abilities in the field of information technology.
The idea is to build the capacity and skills of Palestinian children by
improving their knowledge and awareness of worldwide technology
developments through information sessions and audiovisual educational
aids. The Centers also provide children with the opportunity to learn
about various software programs so that they can express themselves by
developing child-specific projects and by participating in local and
global competitions and events.

Success Stories
Mahmoud Husam 11 years old
tells us his story: “I used to know a little bit about how to use the
computer and some applications and programs such as MS Word, but because
of the lack of information available about these programs I felt bored
and ended up just playing computer games. But now, after my
participation in Shababeek I can use MS Office programs and applications
very confidently, in addition to that I can now use the Photoshop
program by merging pictures and making some designs.
Husam Hamoury 12
years old
from Hebron and beneficiary of Shababeek project says that he too used
to use the computer only for playing games but now he can design things
on Photoshop. Husam went on to make a website for himself and post all
of the designs that he produced on the website. Have a look yourself! Go
