Homework Centers:
Improving the academic
and social skills of Palestinian children
Project
Overview
The Homework Centers project
aims to establish a safe environment
for children to help them carry out their school duties in a
secure and encouraging environment.
Sharek assists with
the preparation of the centers by restoring and painting the rooms, in
addition to bringing in the necessary furniture and educational games. A
good study environment is vital for the development of the students’
creative thinking, which in turn can help to improve the academic
advancement of beneficiaries who suffer from low grades or weak academic
output. Some of the homework centers were established in existing Sharek
centers while others were established in partnership with local NGO's,
village councils and municipalities..JPG)

Success Stories
The mother of Ibrahim Judeh said: "I heard about the program
through some of my friends, so I visited the centre in order to find out
more about the project that Ibrahim was about to attend. We suffered a
lot with him; we even tried to enrol him in a private school for
students with learning disabilities. But after joining the program,
there has been a remarkable progress in Ibrahim's personality and
academic level, which we noticed through the improvement in his grades
and his increased ability to do his homework and his improved
self-confidence.

Mousa Abu Snenih,
a volunteer in the Hebron (Esaad Atofuleh) Homework Centre, said:
"Through my participation in the Homework Centre, I can feel the
positive effect of the project on the participating children and the
improvement in their studies, and the development of relationships
between all the participants is also a good indicator of success |
