Bridges Activities
Project Overview
Bridges
strives to ameliorate the educational and social problems faced by
Palestinian youth and children. Bridges attempts to provide the
opportunity for children to live their childhood, while benefiting from
interaction with their peers in a fun and supportive environment. Thus,
it is the belief of Sharek that the participants’ involvement in
Bridges Activities will help to mitigate the detrimental effects of
the conflict on children and youth and contribute to the development of
their academic, social and personal skills.
Activities
Examples of Bridges activities include: visits for youth groups to
Sharek’s Model Court in Abu Dis, and visits to various shops and local
businesses, dentists, factories, banks, supermarkets
and
local NGOs. Moreover, some volunteer activities, such as the cleaning up
of streets and beautification of cities and villages, are carried out as
well. Both youth and children therefore develop a sense of
responsibility towards themselves and Palestinian society.
Local Partners
- Local schools and universities
- Civil society organizations and local NGO’s.
